My second choice would be Charles, also a US company with good service. Avoid Xantrex at all cost or any of the other el-cheapo Chinese makes out there. I have a 31' boat that came with a Fischer Panda 4kw generator. This absolutely works great for anything I need AC wise and does a good job of recharging my batteries. However, there are times that I don't need to start the generator. Say I just just want a quick bowl of soup heated up or a coffee. In those cases I have the inverter instantly ready for quick needs. Evaluate your needs and wants and decide for yourself what is needed. A marine genset will be close to $10K installed, a battery bank and inverter, up to $2K depending on capacity.
