The last thing you expect on a small tropical island is a motor museum featuring an extensive and eclectic collection of exotic and vintage cars. Yet that is exactly what you will find at the Cayman Motor Museum.
Located across from Cracked Conch restaurant in West Bay, next to the Turtle Farm, the museum is certainly worth a visit, whether you are a car fanatic or not.
The collection of cars include everything from an extensive collection of Ferraris to a range of vehicles, the majority by famed auto maker Rolls Royce, that were once owned by the rich, the famous, and even the infamous.
The famous cars included in the collection include a Rolls Royce previously owned by Sir Elton John, Queen Elizabeth II’s first limousine, a once-off Mercedes Benz convertible custom made for Ugandan dictator Idi Amin, and the Yellow Rolls Royce from the film of the same name.
However, for true car fans, it is the rarities in the collection that really make a visit worthwhile. Yes of course the Ferraris can make anyone’s heart beat faster, while the original Batmobile from the live action TV series brings out the little kid in everyone, but it is the little three wheelers that no-one has ever heard of or the rather strange Citroen sports car with the Maserati engine that really pique the interest. These are cars that you are not likely to encounter in many other collections, yet every bit as worthy of being included.

Apple's "Speeds and Feeds" is a preemptive strike We care about how soon it will get us to our destination and how comfortable the ride will be. Do we really care about the the specs for our toaster or our coffee maker? No. we care about good toast and good coffee. You're right and you're wrong, Seth. |
