When I was growing up in Tallahassee during the 1950s and 1960s, I heard often from my politically minded mother and others that Jacksonville was a city ruled by corporate interests to the detriment of its residents (stinking air and underfunded schools).On Tuesday night, I watched the Jacksonville City Council vote to send a weak “do the best you can” resolution to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection regarding the proposed Georgia-Pacific pipeline.
With the exception of a few eloquent and independent-minded members, the City Council refused to request a delay for granting a permit for the pipeline until the strictest tests on possible cancer-causing dioxins in the company’s chemical effluents have been performed.
It is clear that corporate interests still rule in Jacksonville.
The possibly negative impacts of the Georgia-Pacific pipeline on the St. Johns River may not appear for years or even decades, but the feeble resolution passed by the City Council will unquestionably bear partial responsibility for it.
I am looking for a 6 cup, space saver, coffee maker.?
I want a coffee maker that only makes six or so cups and will mount under the cabinet. It is for use in a RV, so the smaller the better.
Check out the Black and Decker coffee makers. another suggestion is those pod coffee makers or the one cups. I sure like the one cups, and my daughter liked the pod thingies.
