Many of us can't get through the morning without a jolt of java, but you may not need to brew a whole pot. It's why pod coffee makers are one of the hottest gifts of the season. But if you give one as a gift keep in mind the person you give it to will have to start buying "coffee pods," which can be expensive. We conducted a CTV taste test, which we agree was not a scientific survey. But we did find big differences with the machines.
We looked at the TASSIMO T65 Home Brewing System ($249.99), the KEURIG B60 Special Edition Gourmet Single-Cup Home-Brewing System ($179.99) and the KRUPS Nescafe Dolce Gusto ($149.99).
Each machine takes its own type of coffee-grind packet including "K-cups" for the Keurig and "T-discs" for the Tassimo.
Each one is also aligned with different coffee bean companies, with the highly-coveted Starbucks soon planning to sell its pods exclusively for Keurig machines (it used to have an exclusive deal with Tassimo).
Who actually makes Gevalia coffee makers?
I am looking for a replacement carafe for a 12-cup CM500, but I don't feel like paying them $20 for it. Arenthere generic brand carafes that fit?
