K-Cups: Can I afford to make coffee with my Keurig?
After receiving the gift of fresh coffee for Christmas, some consumers may be shocked to learn how much those single-serving K-Cups cost; but, there is a way out of the K-Cup trap, short of trying to repack the little plastic cups yourself.
This year, on my birthday in April, my beloved got me the best gift ever: A Mr. Coffee Single Serve Powered by Keurig Brewing Technology coffeemaker.
I just call it a Keurig.
I had wanted one of these gadgets for ages, but they were so up there on the price range—I mean, after all, one can buy a coffeemaker these days for under $20, easily. So, I couldn’t justify bringing home a $100+ machine for myself.
But, as a gift, well, that was different.
The machine came with a sampling of available “K-Cups,” the little plastic cups, filled with coffee, that the user can quickly, easily and cleanly pop into and out of the machine to make a single serving of fresh coffee—no reason to have old, stale coffee in the afternoon, or throw away half a pot of regular brew when I decide it is time to switch over to decaf for the day. No, with this amazing technology, I could now make the perfect cup of coffee whenever I wanted it—truly amazing. However, as with all amazing things, there was a price to pay.
Can I use preground beans in a grind and brew coffee maker?
I have a can of ground beans that I haven't opened and don't have any unground beans, but I would love a cup of coffee. Can I use ground beans in a Cuisenart Grind and Brew?

Usually, these type of machines have a button or switch that allows you to use ground coffee instead of whole beans. My mom has a similar machine and there's a button that goes straight to brew. It really depends on your machine though.
